some things to remember
- mediation is not “woo-woo” garbage–that way of thinking is long gone. There have been tons of peer-reviewed scientific studies that prove meditation has tons of benefits. here are some examples:
- in a 2019 study, brief daily meditation helped improve emotional regulation, attention, and memory in meditation newbees.
- in a 2024 study, multiple kinds of meditation were found to assist in the treatment of PTSD.
- there have been numerous studies on the effects of mediation on chronic pain.
- the covid pandemic brought about tons of studies that examined the effects of meditation on nurse and health practitioner-related stress.
- see for yourself: go to pubmed’s website and do a general search for mediation. see what pops up.
- I am not a licensed therapist. as much as i love helping people (it’s what i do!), please remember that I am not certified in any way to be your therapist. if you need a therapist, a good place to go is pyschologytoday.com. here is also a handy link for people who are seeking care in north Carolina: https://blog.opencounseling.com/public-mental-health-nc/.
- i may not respond on the weekends. i do check pulsatio email every weekday, and should respond from 9 am to 5 pm.
- everything you discuss with me is 100% confidential unless i believe that you mean to do physical harm to yourself or another person. your personal details will stay with me. i do not record our sessions (unless you want me to), and none of your data is entered in a system.
